Reading Skill of the Week: Character Development, Narrator, Dialogue

*Throughout the year, students will have reading skill assessments that cannot be studied for and may not be announced. These assessments serve as a way to check the students’ understanding of the reading skill we have been working on throughout the week. The assessment requires students to apply their understanding of the skill, rather than memorize information from a study guide. You may review the skill of the week at home if you choose.*

Many of the students are missing earbuds or have broken the pair that was sent in at the beginning of the year. Please ask your child if he/she is in need of a new pair and send them in ASAP. Thank you!

Reading: Read for 20 minutes and 2 Reading Responses due Friday

Spelling: 3 spelling activities and spelling and vocab test Friday 4/26

Science: Quizzes due Wednesday 4/24

Religion: There will be a prayer test on the Hail Holy Queen on Thursday 5/2. Students have a copy and we are praying it each day during Religion. Students will need to fill in missing words (from a word box). You can find a copy of the prayer here

Hail Holy Queen Test (Students will fill in missing parts of the prayer) on Thursday 5/2

There will be a Module 14 Math Test on Friday 5/3 (The take-home test will be given out on Monday 4/29)

There will be a spelling and vocab quiz on Friday 5/3

3 spelling activities will be due on Friday 5/3

2 Reading Responses will be due on Friday 5/10 (not 5/3)

Spelling words will be posted here every Friday. There will be a test on the words the following Friday. All students will be tested on the blue words (the first ten words). The two red words will be ‘bonus’ words(numbers 11 and 12) . All students may attempt these words on the spelling test, but will not be penalized for spelling the two red words incorrectly. Students must write all 12 words for spelling homework. Students must complete 3 activities from the spelling Weekly Spelling Homework Choiceboard by Friday.

The words below were given out on Friday, April 26th and will be tested on Friday, May 3rd

Each week we will be learning about prefixes, suffixes, root words, or synonyms and antonyms. The spelling words will all contain the vocab skill we are learning for the week. Focusing on specific word parts will help the students develop their vocabulary and understanding of breaking down words.
