Announcements & Reminders: Week of 4/29 - 5/3

Monday, 4/29 - Bagel Day if you ordered for your child
Tuesday, 4/30 - Chicken Finger Day if you ordered for your child 
Thursday, 4/25 - Pizza Day if you ordered for your child

The weather is still not quite warm enough to be outside for recess without a jacket.  Please make sure your child has a jacket with them each day until the weather reaches warmer temperatures. 

Earbuds:  Every student MUST have untangled earbuds.  This is a part of daily homework.  Points will be deducted from homework grade if they are not prepared.


                                                                 Important Reminders:

Dismissal is 2:30 PM, in the school yard.
I ask that you please come stand in front of us in the school yard, to pick up your child.
Please be patient, as I MUST make eye contact with you, and get to know you, before I release your children.  Please understand and cooperate with these safety measures.  Students are NOT allowed to leave the line until they hand back the dismissal card. Please come to your child, as I can’t let them run across the school yard to you.  Thank you for your patience and cooperation.   

- FOLDERS -
***3A uses accordion folders, of at least 6 pockets, that should be labeled by subject and TAKE HOME.  We will NOT use 2 pocket folders.***

I ask that ALL supplies are labeled, with your child’s FULL name and homeroom, 3A.  

Workbooks and planners were due back by 9/11, covered in CLEAR CONTACT. 

- Please make sure students have snack, water and a complete lunch.  If they need utensils, please make sure it is in the lunchbox.  Thank you !

- Students need a chapter book EVERY day.  This will be part of their nightly homework.  The book your child is reading contains the book and a bookmark.  It must remain in the ziploc bag at all times.  This will be part of homework.

iReady! 

iReady is a diagnostic tool that helps us to see how your child is performing throughout the year.  
It is mandatory that students complete 45 mins of math AND 45 mins of reading, EACH week. 

Students should be reading EVERY night for 20/25 mins.  At times, they will be responsible for a summary as a Reading Response that will count as classwork.
Students should have mastered the 0, 1, 2, 5, and 10 times tables.  Please continue to review!

Science - Complete weather chart on page 277 for Saturday and Sunday.  Use GC to help!  We will do this for 7 days.  
Start reviewing for chapter 6 test.  Test next Wednesday.  Study Guide is posted below and on class page. 

Religion -  Review the two quotes from scripture.  This will need to be memorized by next week.  It is in your notebook and on google classroom.  Also, students will need to memorize the Hail, Holy Queen prayer.  Test next week.

Complete review worksheet for homework as well.
Take home test due tomorrow. Module test is on Thursday.

Spelling - 3 choice boards due Friday.

Reading - 2 reading responses due Friday.  

Writing - those students who did not finish the writing assessment for the space module will complete tomorrow.

Each week we will be learning about prefixes, suffixes, root words, or synonyms and antonyms. The spelling words will all contain the vocab skill we are learning for the week. Focusing on specific word parts will help the students develop their vocabulary and understanding of breaking down words. 


*Each week we will be reviewing essential phonics skills. We will apply the skills in various ways throughout the week and students will complete different activities to reinforce their knowledge and understanding of the foundational phonics skills.

On Friday, students will be quizzed on their understanding of the meaning of each prefix and suffix.  They should be able to identify the prefix and suffix as well as use words with the prefix and suffix in clear, well written sentences.

Sequence means the order of events in a story!
It means that we read the order of events in which they happen. Imagine if we didn't read something in order? What would that sound like? Would be understand the story?

There are hints and clue words to help us !
