Dismissal Update for 9/29/23

Good Afternoon,

I hope all are well on this stormy Friday. I am happy to say that inside the school building other than a minor leak or two, it is business as usual. I know there are a lot of videos going around social media of floods in our city, yet as of 11 am our street and schoolyard are wet with no floods to report.

We do have our eyes on dismissal at 2:30 pm and know that on a regular sunny day dismissal can be a little crazy. The recent radar at 11 am does have constant rain and at times torrential rain until 2 p.m. We are hopeful that at around 2:15 pm-2:35pm there may be a nice opening of this storm.

With that knowledge, we will be having a rapid dismissal at 2:25pm. All students in Grades K-4 will be brought to the schoolyard for a normal dismissal at 2:25pm. All students in Grades 5-8 will be dismissed at 2:25 p.m. and will be instructed to go right home. All students in Nursery and Pre-K will be dismissed from their exits at 2:20pm.

All bus students will gather in the gym at 2:25pm and we hope to have them leave the school at 2:35 p.m. We are not aware of any NYC Yellow Bus issues.

With all that being said any parent that would like to pick their children up earlier before 2pm is welcome to do so by signing them out from the main office. Please remember that Grades 1-4 have lunch at 12pm and Grades 5-8 have lunch at 12:30pm.

We do ask that after 2pm you wait to pick your child up at 2:25pm during dismissal.

If anything above changes we will be in touch.  Stay dry!
