Happy Fall! I am pleased to report that our students have joyfully embraced the rhythms of a productive and engaging school day. We look forward to the last full week of September next week:
Bagel Day/Chicken Finger Day: Just a reminder that this Monday 9/23 will begin our bagel lunches for Grades K-8 and Tuesday 9/24 is our monthly Chicken Finger Day.
School Yard/Parking Lot: As discussed at a few different times last year, we are asking all parents to please watch your children in the school yard after they have been dismissed from school. We have had several instances about children on scooters riding into other children. There should be no bike riding or scooter riding in the schoolyard until after all classes have been dismissed. In the past, we’ve also had issues with families parking their cars in the lot. Please understand that we use the school yard for recess and dismissal, so if you could please try to find street parking, that would be very much appreciated. If parking in the school yard occurred for some reason please remember that no one should be leaving the parking lot until after 2:45pm.
Nut Free: St. Francis de Sales Catholic Academy has been and will continue to be a peanut-free environment because of the increasing number of students with severe allergies. This means that every child is asked to bring snacks and lunches free of any peanuts or nuts. Please be sure to follow this regulation as you put children with allergies in danger.
Tablet Subscriptions =Technology for St. Francis: As discussed at last week’s Back to School Meeting. The Diocese of Brooklyn is looking for all families to subscribe to the weekly newspaper of the Diocese “The Tablet”.
Through a special grant from DeSales Media Group these subscriptions will allow our school to receive 500 brand new chrome books/iPad to keep our school technology up to date.
Each subscription is $22 for a year. You can subscribe or renew by clicking here.
The best part is that each family that takes a subscription will get a $22 tuition credit on their FACTS account meaning that for our families this will be a free subscription.
We do ask that all families take a subscription no later than Friday 10/4. Thanks in advance for helping us with this grant.
Survey: In an effort to improve system practices, Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Academy is conducting a Family Survey. We value your opinion and ask that you take the time to complete this survey. We appreciate your time and all responses. Please note that the responses from this survey are helpful for the academy to make decisions for the future and for the Accreditation process. Thanks again.
Tuition: Just a reminder that the third tuition payment was due at the beginning of this week. As communicated in prior correspondence, billing is now done through FACTS. You can check your balance, due dates, etc. by logging in through FACTS. Any questions about tuition and payments should go through our bookkeeper Marguerite Kazalski, she can be reached at email@example.com
High School Night: On Monday September 23rd at 7pm in the School Gym our 7th and 8th Grade Students and Families are invited to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Academy Annual High School Night. $1 Dress Down: This Friday 9/27 will be a $1 Dress Down Day. All students are asked to wear purple. All proceeds are going to help fund Ms. Mangano’s team in the Althizmer’s Association to end Althizmers.
SFDS Confirmation Retreat: This Sunday, the St. Francis de Sales Parish 8th graders will be gathering at 5:30pm mass to for Proximate Prep towards Confirmation. We will be praying for them as they get closer to receiving the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Please note this night ends at 9:00pm.
Parish Affiliation Form: There are still many families that have not returned the Parish Affiliation Form, please do this as soon as possible as we try to keep all of our records up to date. If you need another form please click here.
Please remember this form is necessary to keep an affiliated tuition rate.
Lunch Duty: We are in need of some parents to help volunteering for our lunch periods. If you are VIRTUS trained and are able to do the lunch duty, we certainly appreciate it. We are continuing to assign lunch duty using a web-based service called Sign Up. It enables those who want to do lunch duty to sign up for slots on specific days with email reminders. It is our hope this will help with the number of cancellations and no shows from families.
To sign up for lunch duty please use the website: Lunch Duty Sign Up

Any questions feel free to contact the main office.
Thanks as always for supporting the school.
The sale ends on October 8th.
Box Tops for Education: We are ready to kick off our first Box Tops contest for the year. A Pizza party to the grade that brings in the most Box Tops before October 30th, 2019.
As you may have noticed, Box Tops is moving to a more digital program, though there are still many products on shelves with Box Tops on them. Keep clipping those and send them into school. In addition, if you download the Box Tops app, you can also scan that receipt for box tops. Once the receipt is scanned, fill in your child’s name and class in the field for Credit. Stores are constantly running different promotions. For example, BJs Wholesale is running a special that if you purchase two box tops products, you will get $5.00 (that’s the equivalent to 50 box tops for your child’s class!). You do not need to scan any of your personal information provided that you have the date of purchase included in the scanned receipt. Receipts need to be scanned within 14 days of purchase. This is such a fast, easy way to support our school.
Stop and Shop: Stop and Shop Rewards began on 9/6. Through the A+ School Rewards Program, parents and supporters can help simply by registering their Stop & Shop Card to our school’s ID number 09270 and then shopping at any Stop & Shop store. To register, go to http://stopandshop.com/aplus/register-card/ to register your card over the phone. You may select up to two (2) schools. At the end of the program our school is presented with a check. We are looking forward to another successful year of A+ SCHOOL REWARDS!
