Many of our 8th graders from St. Francis de Sales Parish were blessed with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit during their Confirmation today. Both ceremonies were beautiful and we are so proud of all of our 8th graders during this very special time in their lives. We very much look forward to seeing our students from Blessed Trinity parish become Confirmed in the Spirit on December 5th as well. A special thank you to Mrs. Foti, Mrs. Gigliello, Mrs. McMahon and Ms. Scahill for helping to form the students faith in their preparation for this special Sacrament over the past two years. Thank you to our Parish Religious Education Director, Mrs. AnneMarie Greene, for organizing the ceremonies as well.
Picture Day: On Monday 10/28 is individual picture day for our Nursery through 7th graders. All those students who are getting pictures may remain in their school uniform or dress up for their picture. Please remind your child that dressing up for pictures is very different than dressing down. All those students who are not getting pictures taken are to be in their full school uniform. If your child has gym on picture day please have them wear sneakers if they are dressing up or bring a change of shoes so they can participate in gym.
Don’t forget that class picture day is Monday November 4th all students should be in Dress Uniform as their Gym classes will be in the classroom on Monday 11/4.
You can order pictures in advance on mylifetouch.com with our school picture ID of: OV449012Q0
Technology Grant: I have great news to share. Thanks to the over 250 families that took a subscription to “The Tablet” over the past month. I recently received news that we reached our goal and will be overhauling all of our teacher and student devices here at St. Francis. During the Winter of 2020 if not sooner we will be switching out over 600 devices for all of our students and teachers in Grades K-8. As we all know, technology is a great tool yet it is constantly updating and getting better. From this joint effort we will be able to keep St. Francis de Sales Catholic Academy up to date for the next years to come. Thanks again.
Happy Halloween! We hope you have a fun and safe time Trick or Treating with your children. Please remind our older students about the importance of respecting everyone’s property and making safe decisions on Halloween.
On Thursday, Grades K-8 may dress down wearing black and orange. Pre-K is allowed to wear bathroom-friendly costumes for their parade. Our school will be open for trick or treaters from 2:45pm-4pm. (We will be participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project) We hope to see you there! Don’t forget to stop by the rectory as well.
Allergies: This week, Halloween celebrations and candy will no doubt be abundant. With this fun and exciting time comes a significant safety concern for many students in our school building. It is important that there is strict avoidance to this food in order to prevent a life-threatening allergic reaction. We are asking your help to provide the student with a safe school environment. Any exposure to peanuts/nuts may cause a life-threatening allergic reaction that requires emergency medical treatment.
To reduce the chance of this occurring, we are asking that you do not send any peanut or nut containing products to school with your child. If your child has eaten peanuts/nuts before coming to school, please be sure your child’s hands and face have been thoroughly washed before entering the school. We appreciate your support of these procedures.
All Saints Day: All Saint’s Day is on Friday November 1st. Our 2nd Grade Saints will be leading us in our All Saints Day mass at 11am. You are more than welcome to join us. Please note that we will have limited seating in the choir loft for parents.
Upcoming Fees: A quick reminder that several fees are coming due in addition to the monthly tuition payment. Those are the Book & Materials fee, the Technology fee and the Security fee. As a matter of information, you can login to your FACTS account and request email reminders for upcoming fees if you have not done so already.
Mix-it Up at Lunch Day: Thursday and Friday is Mix it up at Lunch Day. A national campaign launched by Teaching Tolerance in 2002, Mix It Up at Lunch Day encourages students to identify, question and cross social boundaries. All schools are asked to participate on the last Tuesday in October each school year! In research, students have identified the cafeteria as the place where divisions are most clearly drawn. So for just a day, we will ask students to move out of their comfort zones and connect with someone new over lunch. It’s a simple act with profound implications.
Chicken Finger Day: Just a reminder that this Tuesday 10/29 is our monthly Chicken Finger Day.
Book Fair: Another wonderful Book Fair has come to a close here at St. Francis de Sales. Thank you again for your continued generosity!
