SFDS Week of November 5th 2018

Dear Families,

As we look towards the first full week of November, it’s hard to believe that Halloween has already come and gone. We had some fun Halloween celebrations and were able to accomplish lots of great work this week as well. We will be keeping the 8th grade in our prayers this weekend as they set off to take their TACHS exam tomorrow morning. Best of luck, 8th Grade! We know you will do your very best.

Professional Day & Veterans Day: Remember that next week is a short week with a half day on Thursday November 8th for our Faculty Meeting, a day off for students on Friday  November 9 for a Faculty Professional Day, and school is closed on Monday November 12 in observance of Veteran’s Day.

Please note that Thursday 11/8 is a dress down day for all students.

Enjoy the long weekend.

Class Picture Day: Just a reminder that on Wednesday November 14, Class Picture day will be held for all grades and classes, Nursery through grade 8. Students should be in full winter uniform for this day.

Last year, with the help of your generosity, the parish was able to purchase 80 Thanksgiving dinners for families in need. If you’d like to help out, please send a $25 check (made out to St. Francis de Sales Church) or $25 cash in an envelope. Thank you again for your unwavering generosity.

Smoke Alarms Installation: This Wednesday 11/7/18 the FDNY will be outside of school looking for parents to sign up their household for smoke alarms and installation of the smoke alarms. They will be outside of school from 2pm-5pm for anyone to sign up. We hope that many families take advantage of this service being offered by the ciy to make sure our homes are safe.

PS: We are always in need of some parents to help volunteering for our lunch periods. If you are VIRTUS trained and are able to do the lunch duty, we certainly appreciate it. We are continuing to assign lunch duty using a web-based service called Sign Up. It enables those who want to do lunch duty to sign up for slots on specific days with email reminders. It is our hope this will help with the number of cancellations and no shows from families.
