SFDS Week of November 4th 2019

Dear Families,

As we look towards the first full week of November, it’s hard to believe that Halloween has already come and gone. We had some fun Halloween celebrations and were able to accomplish lots of great work this week as well. We will be keeping the 8th grade in our prayers as well as next weekend they set off to take their TACHS exam. Best of luck, 8th Grade! We know you will do your very best.

Don’t forget to turn those clocks back on Saturday night. Enjoy the extra hour of sleep.

Professional Day & Veterans Day: Remember that next week is a short week a day off for students on Friday November 8th for a Faculty Professional Day, and the school is closed on Monday  November 11th in observance of Veteran’s Day. Enjoy the long weekend.

Grade 3 Family Mass: Please join St. Francis de Sales Parish in celebration of our third graders and their families this Sunday November 3rd at 9am mass. A small fellowship will follow the mass for the third grade and their families in Father Reddy Hall after mass.

Thanksgiving Donation: St. Francis de Sales parish is collecting money again this year to sponsor Thanksgiving dinners for those in need. Last year, with the help of your generosity, the parish was able to purchase 90 Thanksgiving dinners for families in need. If you’d like to help out, please send a $25 check (made out to St. Francis de Sales Church) or $25 cash in an envelope. Thank you again for your unwavering generosity.

Little Sisters of the Poor Drive: St. Francis de Sales Catholic Academy is sponsoring a Thanksgiving Drive for the Queen of Peace Residence for the elderly poor. Each year we ask classes to bring in assigned personal and food items, which are requested by the Little Sisters of the Poor who care for the residents. Box Tops for Education: Congratulations to the 5th grade who were our winners of a Pizza Party for the Fall Box Tops Contest.

Final Standings

We will be starting another contest in a few weeks so keep those Box Tops close by. As you may have noticed, Box Tops is moving to a more digital program, though there are still many products on shelves with Box Tops on them.  Keep clipping those and send them into school. In addition, if you download the Box Tops app, you can also scan that receipt for box tops. Once the receipt is scanned, fill in your child’s name and class in the field for Credit.   Stores are constantly running different promotions. For example, BJs Wholesale is running a special that if you purchase two box tops products, you will get $5.00 (that’s the equivalent to 50 box tops for your child’s class!). You do not need to scan any of your personal information provided that you have the date of purchase included in the scanned receipt.  Receipts need to be scanned within 14 days of purchase. This is such a fast, easy way to support our school.

Stop and Shop: Stop and Shop Rewards began on 9/6. Through the A+ School Rewards Program, parents and supporters can help simply by registering their Stop & Shop Card to our school’s ID number 09270 and then shopping at any Stop & Shop store. To register, go to http://stopandshop.com/aplus/register-card/ to register your card over the phone. You may select up to two (2) schools. At the end of the program our school is presented with a check. We are looking forward to another successful year of A+ SCHOOL REWARDS!
