SFDS Week of November 18th 2019

Dear Academy Families,

Although it was a short week here at the Academy, next week has many different events and meetings to be aware of…..

Check out the Art: We were so excited to continue art in our academic program this school year. Please check out Ms. Mangano’s digital art gallery to see what our students have been creating in Art classes since September. Their work has been beautiful and we are so proud to have it displayed throughout the building and on our school website. Thank you to Ms. Mangano for all of her great work!

Christmas Show: Yesterday a note was sent home explaining this year’s Christmas show. Any questions about tickets please call the office. Any questions about costumes or dress please contact Ms. Mangano at gmangano@stfrancisschoolbh.net

Report Cards: Also yesterday an email went out explaining report cards. All report cards will be sent home on Wednesday 12/4. Teachers are available to meet on both Wednesday 12/4 from 6pm-7:30pm and on Friday 12/6 from 12:45pm-2:45pm. Please remember that this Monday at 3pm you can begin to sign up for appointments (Nursery-Grade 4) on our school website.

Early Childhood Registration: As we begin to prepare for the 2020-2021 school year, we want to ensure that our plans to maximize the benefit to your child/children. Last week we sent home letters of intent for any current Nursery and Pre-K student here at St. Francis who plans on attending St. Francis in 2020 as a Pre-K or Kindergarten student. Those forms are due next week.  As always, we thank you for your dedication and support to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Academy. If you have any concerns that we may address, please do not hesitate to call us or email us.

After Thanksgiving  a letter will be sent home to families of current students to see if any siblings of current students will be joining our Early Childhood. Please send in all letters of intent as soon as possible  as we will begin open registration in Nursery, Pre-K and Kindergarten early in January.

We are happy to announce that starting in September 2020 our Nursery program will be a 5-day half-day program. More information will be following in the coming weeks.

Confirmation Grade 7 Proximate Prep (SFDS): Just a reminder to the 7th graders who are receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation next year here at St. Francis that your journey in preparation for the Sacrament  begins with a Proximate Preparation on Sunday, November 17th, 2019 from 9:00-11:00 am. The students and parents will participate in the 9:00 Mass and follow with a light breakfast in Msgr. Reddy Hall. There will be a presentation and the candidates will receive their red folders. The folders contain all the necessary forms and information for Confirmation. If anyone would like to participate in the Liturgy:  readers, gifts or ushers, please contact the Religious Education office 718-945-6911. We look forward to seeing everyone on November 17, 2019, at 9:00 am Mass.
