SFDS Week of June 12th

Dear Families,

Congratulations! Today is your day.

You’re off to Great Places! You’re off and away!

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes.

You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own.

And you know what you know. You are the guy who’ll decide where to go.

Dr. Seuss, “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!”

Congrats to the Class of 2017 who will be graduating next Friday at 6pm from St. Francis de Sales Catholic Academy. We wish them all the best as they move into the next chapter of their lives…

On to what is going on this week at St. Francis…

Step Up: This week our Nursery (Wednesday 6/14) and Pre-K (Friday 6/16) students will be wowing us all in their Step Up Ceremonies. Please follow the directives given by each teacher/office for these special days.

Ballroom Bash: Just a reminder to our 6th grade families that on Thursday June 15th all are invited at 11am to view our third annual Ballroom Bash in the School Gym.

Regents: On Tuesday and Thursday of this week some of our 8th graders will be taking the New York State Regents in Earth Science and Algebra. Please make sure your child gets a good night sleep, eats breakfast and arrives at school on time for the exam (11:30am). It will give them time to settle down and get comfortable before the test. Please note, any student found to have a cell phone on them during the test will result in the test being invalidated for that student as per State regulations. ?If a child finishes before the allotted completion time, has checked over their work and handed in their test paper, they will be given permission to read independently. Use of electronics (iPads, nooks, etc.) is NOT allowed at this time, as per State regulation.

Coffee with the Principal: This Wednesday (6/14) ?at 6pm we will be having our final Coffee with the Principal for year. The entire meeting will be focused on Fundraising for this year and fundraising plans for next year. All are welcome.

Beach Parties: As we come to the home stretch of the end of the year we have our end of the year beach parties to celebrate the close of another year of learning. This week Grades 1, 2, 3 and 7 will have their Beach Parties. Please follow the directives that were given out by the classroom teacher and class captains in earlier correspondences.

Special Lunch Days: Grades K-4 still have one more pizza day this week (6/15) to makeup from a snow day earlier this school year. A very special thank you to Mrs. Rose for coordinating our pizza days all year long.

Movie Night: Please join us for our 2nd annual Outdoor Movie Night, being held on Wednesday June 21st in our schoolyard. We will be showing the movie Moana beginning at dusk. The gates to the schoolyard will be open at 7:30pm. Please note that an adult must accompany each child for the duration of the movie. Bring your own beach chairs!

Box Tops: Today a ziploc bag went home with your child to begin to start collecting box tops over the summer for our fall contest during the 2017-2018 school year. We had a very successful collection this year and know next year we will do even better. As always thank you for all your support.

Paperwork: ?If any child is transferring from St. Francis de Sales Catholic Academy at the end of this academic year, their records will most likely need to be sent to their new school. Please request that as soon as possible as many schools are closed for the summer and ask for that information before the end of June. To guarantee this paperwork is sent before the end of the year the latest the request can be made is June 16th 2017. Any requests after that date will be done in a timely manner.
