Spanish Class Week Ending 1/25

Picture

Dear Families,

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we did not have class on Monday (1/20/20). Instead, I pray that we all continue to work towards a world that is more accepting and inclusive of our actions. One of my favorite things about being in a catholic school is the integration of Catholic Social Teachings and values into our classroom. And this quote sums that up perfectly. It is always the right time to do what is right.

In other news, we are approximately half way through the trimester. Please check Option C/Google Classroom and speak with your child about assignments that are marked as late or missing as well as those that are due soon. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

We will not be using that word because it might be too confusing for them.

Hello Parents,

This week, we celebrate and remember the Immaculate Conception. In hispanic and latin culture, we honor this day as we have a special devotion to Mary, the Mother of God. Mary serves an important part in our lives and we see that with this Holy Day as well as the remembrance of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe (Thursday December 12).

Dear Parents,

With Thanksgiving being this week, our schedule has been slightly modified. As per the calendar and Mr. Scharbach’s communication, we will be having a half day on Wednesday (11/27). As a result, some classes may be shifted.

This week we focused on El Día de Acción de Gracias (Thanksgiving) in each of the classes. Students completed a variety of activities on the holiday. These ranged from making hand turkeys in 2nd grade to participating in a  breakout box using Thanksgiving vocabulary in the middle school. Students were introduced to the holiday specific vocabulary but in a game focused manner.

Additionally, report cards are being finalized. No homework is assigned this week for Spanish. All future assignments will count towards Trimester 2. Report cards will be given out next week. As a reminder, Spanish is graded on a scale of 1 through 4. The breakdown is as follows:

  • 4 – Exceeding Standards
  • 3 – Meeting Standards
  • 2 – Approaching Standards
  • 1 – Not Approaching Standards

I use the comments section of the report cards to provide detail for your child’s grade. Please note, I will only be at Parent Teacher Conferences on Wednesday December 4, 2019. Please check Option C and Google Classroom to go over any assignments from the trimester with your child.

Wishing you and your families a Happy, Healthy, Safe, Special, & Blessed Thanksgiving!
